In his fine season, he compiled a .404 batting average with 74 hits, 6 doubles, 1 triple and 11 home runs, along with 40 RBIs and 67 runs scored.
For being named the DBL's top batter, García will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Best Batter Named by Southeastern League Thursday, June 14th, 1984: 1984's top hitter in the Southeastern League is Cecil Garrison. He feasted on everything opposing pitchers offered, hitting .422 with 20 home runs to claim the prestigious Outstanding Hitter Award.
During the year he tallied 65 hits, 47 RBIs, and 65 runs scored.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | David Boyce League Best Pitcher Named Wednesday, June 13th, 1984: Lorenzo Ramírez of the San Diego Toreros had a super season and has been rewarded with the David Boyce League Outstanding Pitcher Award for 1984.
The Toreros ace fashioned an ERA of 1.83 as he won 9 games, dropped only 0, fanned 136 and gave up 32 walks in 103.1 innings of work.
