 | Sunday, June 28th, 1981: López Torches BlueClaws for 5 Hits On top of the Delmarva hit parade today was Juan López. He went to the plate 5 times and tagged 5 hits, but it was Lakewood that marched off with the 9-4 win. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-5 performance, however the BlueClaws marked it up in the victory column. The sweet swinging second baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Shorebirds griped to the press, "As a team, we just didn't do it with the bats. That's why we lost." J. López singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. So far in 1981, López is batting .326 with 1 home run and 17 RBIs. |
