| Breaking News |  | Sunday, August 29th, 1982: Jackson Zeroes in on New York Danny Jackson of Atlanta easily handled the New York Mets, stopping them on 6 hits and chucking a complete game 5-0 shutout.
"He really did a job on us," said the New York manager. "He had good command of his pitches. He changed speeds well and pretty much confused us. We never could zero in on him, but he certainly zeroed in on us."
Jackson said, "Everything was working for me. Throwing my breaking stuff over the plate was big."
He finished the game with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk in a solid outing.
In 23 starts this season Jackson has fashioned a 7-9 record and a 3.37 ERA. |  | Monday, August 9th, 1982: Mazzilli Selected Player of the Week It was announced today that New York first baseman Lee Mazzilli has been acclaimed by the National League as the Player of the Week for his outstanding play last week.
Mazzilli posted a .478 batting average as he collected 11 hits in 23 at-bats, 2 home runs and 4 RBIs.
In 1982 Mazzilli has produced 119 hits in 407 at-bats for a .292 average with 14 home runs and gotten on base at a .381 clip. |  | Friday, July 30th, 1982: Blyleven Blanks New York In a knockout performance, Bert Blyleven beat the Mets 5-0 with an impressive 3-hit shutout.
The Pirates hurler finished with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
Blyleven told reporters after the game, "My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working ...it don't get any better than this."
The Mets manager said, "It was a rough one for my guys. We weren't at our best...and their guy was."
