Friday, March 26th, 1982: Sandberg Hurt, Listed Day-to-Day
Philadelphia team officials speculated whether star second baseman Ryne Sandberg would be scratched from today's ballgame after he suffered a tender elbow in yesterday's matchup with the Montreal Expos. Sandberg denied reports that he would miss a lot of time, but added that he would not risk further injury by playing.

Monday, December 21st, 1981: Valentine and Downs Swapped
A trade between the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies was made official this morning. The Houston Astros have sent 27-year old right fielder Ellis Valentine to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for 20-year old minor league catcher Mike Clark and 21-year old minor league starting pitcher Kelly Downs.

For his career Valentine has batted .271 and hit 126 home runs.

So far in his career Downs has 4 wins and 9 losses and a 5.97 ERA.
