It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike, when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Mickey Tettleton, the Cleveland Indians 23-year-old catcher, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for American League Player of the Week honors.

Friday, July 13th, 1984: Tettleton Gets 6 Hits
Mickey Tettleton was on fire today and sparked his club to a 28-3 victory over the Rangers. The Cleveland catcher was a tough out and went 6 for 8 against Texas in a fine hitting display.

"I got my pitches and I connected. They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody...and some days they fall in."

M. Tettleton hit a two-run double in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off P. Clements in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off B. Castro in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.

Thus far this year Tettleton is batting .252 with 14 home runs, 50 RBIs and 46 runs scored.
Thursday, July 12th, 1984: Brennan Wants Out of Cleveland?
Allegedly, Tom Brennan has asked to be traded from Cleveland. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great.
